David was very moved hearing about Amma's charity work in India.
He has been through some terrible times and suffers depression so sometimes
will not write for a while. After receiving the letter from Amma he wrote:
"The Letter from Amma really, really touched me. I'd love for you to take
a letter from me to her. It's very hard to write letters here, but I'll do what
I can. If not, tell her my name, that I've suffered and hated, and I'm lost and
I hurt." He did manage to write a letter to Amma this year and I passed it
on to her. In his letter, he opened his heart.
Richard finds refuge from the difficulties of
prison in his art. He is interested in spiritual books and teachings. When
he received his first Amma books he wrote,"The more I read about her, the
more amazed I am at how much love she shows to everyone. [The books about Amma
are] good; I just got started on them. They talk a lot about meditation. I've
never meditated before, but I would really like to find something that would
show me how to." I sent him the “Ma Om” meditation instructions and
now he meditates.
This has been a wonderful way to deeply experience
Amma's teachings. I feel such happiness when writing and receiving these
letters.
